Boone County 4-H Livestock Club Community Service Opportunities

The 4-H Livestock Club will be doing several community service opportunities this year.  These are great opportunities to give back to our community and help others. Please contact Christy at 859-586-6101 if you have any questions.

 November 25, 8:00-11:30 am: Isaiah House Mission (860 Elm Street, Ludlow 41016). This is an outside activity so dress appropriately. Parking is in the Ludlow Yacht Club parking lot.

     

Attention 4-H Livestock Club Members!

Reminder: 2018 enrollment forms are due by the mandatory meeting in January!

*Mandatory livestock meeting is Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 7:00 pm at the Enrichment Center (lower level). This meeting is for all participants who plan to exhibit a market animal at the county fair in August and/or participants enrolled in the 4-H country ham project. A parent must attend the meeting with the participant.

      

4-H Country Ham Project 2018

Plans are underway to start the 4-H country ham project for 2018. A contract must be signed and submitted to the Extension Office by December 1. There is a small fee attached to this project. This year the fee is $60. The curing process begins in January and the project runs through the Kentucky State Fair in August. All activities are completed at the Extension Office and all supplies are furnished. Each participant must give a 3-5 minute speech on an assigned topic pertaining to country hams. If the participant chooses not to complete the project, the two hams are forfeited and the fee is not returned. The two competitions are at the county and state fairs. Each participant who successfully completes the project will take home two country hams. If you would like more information, please call the Extension Office at 586-6101.
